Leavenworth to Cashmere to Wenatchee Corridor

Snapshot: The Wenatchee River Valley Corridor includes the cities of Cashmere and Leavenworth and unincorporated tree-fruit agriculture communities of Monitor, Dryden, and Peshastin. Both Leavenworth and Cashmere support planning for a new pathway and anticipate benefits to their tourism economies and quality of life for their residents.

US 2 travels from Wenatchee to Leavenworth along the Wenatchee River, crossing it several times. This corridor is narrowest between Peshastin and Leavenworth. No single county road provides parallel connectivity from Wenatchee to Leavenworth due to the topography.

Previous Work

  • Over the past 20 years there have been various efforts to initiate the development of a pathway in this corridor, but no public agency studied the idea until recently. The Chelan County Multi-Use Pathways Plan completed in 2021 identified three conceptual alignments that follow the US 2 right-of-way, the riverbank, or county road rights-of-way. No decision was made on a preferred alignment in this corridor – this master plan will complete that work to determine IF and WHERE a pathway can be constructed through this corridor.
